The Pilates Studio encourages working out with a different Pilates instructor from time to time to keep your workout fresh, challenging and exciting but for the most part you will be scheduled with the same instructor. When you first come to the studio for Sessions we will pair you up with a Pilates instructor based on your availability, background and goals. Occasionally you might have a substitute but your main instructor will arrange that with you ahead of time. Very rarely, will you have a surprise substitute for a Session and you always have the option to reschedule.
Our staff works as a tight knit team. All of our Pilates instructors are trained and certified through Polestar Pilates so there is a consistent language amongst them when it comes to Pilates. On a weekly basis our instructors share and work together on case studies, and continuing education. While you may be working with one particular instructor you will always have the whole team supporting you. Each instructor came to The Pilates Studio with her own unique background, experience and specialties. Scoliosis? Ask for Jenni. Athlete? Ask for Kay. Horseback rider? Ask for Suzanne. Neck problems? Ask for Ruth. Dancer? Ask for Maureen or Ivy. Yogi? Ask for Nancy. Cross Fitter? Ask for Holly.
The Pilates Studio offers Private, Semi-Private, Small Group and Independent Sessions-, which are scheduled by appointment, and Group Mat and Group Apparatus Classes, which happen on a regular weekly basis (only some of which you need to sign up for).
During Sessions clients work on their own individualized program or workout- even if they are sharing an instructor. These programs are workouts are based on the client’s goals, injuries, and how their body is feeling on any given day. Sessions typically utilize the Pilates Apparatus however some clients choose to focus on just Pilates Mat work. To do Sessions we strongly recommend starting with The Introductory Package (3 Private Sessions).
During Apparatus Classes clients will do a more generalized workout geared towards the group. All exercises
can be modified or varied in case of limitations, injuries, etc. Apparatus Classes include Reformer Classes, Apparatus Circuits and Oov Classes. You’ll notice on our schedule that some of these have even more specific focuses such as Reformer: Building Bone Density and Apparatus Circuit for Runners. It is required that you sign up for all Apparatus Classes as each class as limited space. You can sign up through our online schedule or by calling or emailing the studio. Our 24 cancellation policy applies to Apparatus Classes.
Mat Classes happen in our downstairs studio and include Mixed Level Pilates Mat, Barre Sculpt, Fletcher Fusion, ByoBaby and more. You can drop into these classes at anytime although it is recommended that you always check our online schedule before coming in case there is a rare class cancellation. Mat Classes may use small props such as the log, hand weights, the resistance band and circle.
We offer a variety of ways you can use our studio. Anyone on The Pilates Studio staff can help you find the best way to use the studio for your goals, schedule and budget. Don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
Ideally you would start with The Intro Package. This is a series of 3 private sessions scheduled by appointment. The first session is a complete assessment so your instructor can design a program specifically for you. Whether you are rehabbing an injury, starting Pilates because your friend recommended it, wanting to learn a workout you can do at home, or preparing for group classes the Intro Pack is for you. Some people don’t know what they want out of it, but you’re instructor will help you figure that out.
